Sara,
I am writing to follow-up with information about the sites you
emailed us about on January 30, 2014. We categorized the list you sent us by
tank number and leak number. The Petroleum Remediation Program will
not be completing petroleum tank release investigation work for the sites that
are considered tank sites only or for the properties that have closed leak
sites. The Petroleum Remediation Program does not address tank sites until a
leak is discovered or until information is received that would suggest that
closed leak sites needs to be re-opened. In the mean time, if you would
like to contact someone with our Tanks Program, please call Joann Henry at
651-757-2429 for the name of the tank inspector, tank registration information
and/or tank regulation information.
Also, for sites that the Petroleum Remediation Program is
working on, such as LEAK 18925, Former Food-N-Fuel, please remember that the
Department of Commerce may consider placing liens on properties even if a “no
cost recovery” letter has been issued. Please refer to the bold print in
the letter attached, dated October 7, 2013. If you have additional
questions, please call me at 651-231-6043.
Tank Site #6714 (Blue Earth, MN) – All tanks pulled in 2005, and
associated with two closed leak sites, LEAK #6714 and #11279.
Tank Site #12444 (Kiester, MN) – Tanks still in ground,
currently orange tagged. No open leak sites at this time. (Tanks issue)
Tank Site #18828 (Blue Earth, MN) – All tanks pulled in 2005,
and associated with closed LEAK #11710.
Tank Site #1487 (New Hope, MN) – Tanks still in ground and are
red tagged, and associated with closed leak site #2156 and #7026. (Tanks
issue)
Tank Site #8486 (Nicollet, MN) – Tanks are still in ground and
orange tagged. Associated with closed LEAK #10168. (Tanks issue)

Kathryn,
Stephen had mentioned that if we had other sites, I should work with the MPCA to remediate the other locations.
We have five other locations:
FAC #6714-Blue Earth, MN, #12444-Keister, MN, #18828 Blue Earth, MN, #1487-New Hope, MN and #8486-Nicollet, MN
Please let me know if you need additional information to direct me to the correct staff members of MPCA.
Thank you for your assistance.

Sara,
As Stephen stated below, I am now the project manager for LEAK 18925. We have hired Chris Loch with Carlson McCain to proceed with a Limited Site Investigation to define the extent and magnitude of contamination remaining at the site. I will keep you posted with periodic updates. We expect to begin site work within 1-2 months, depending on weather and schedules.
If you have any questions, please contact me.
Thank you,
Kathryn
